ABOUT

Employing the medium of painting, Sophia Green explores the meaning of language as definition, idiom and symbol manifested within, and sometimes created by, current social environments. Reflecting the dynamic nature of these interpretations, Sophia uses formal technique to create visual tension; the two dimensional surface of the painting with linguistic symbols floats above a deep perspective space hinting at iconographic imagery and suggested form. Sophia lives and works in San Francisco and has been creating commercial and fine art for the past two decades. Her fine art work has been exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the bay area including; Fort Mason Artists Gallery, Asterisk Gallery, City Art Gallery and an also be seen at Open Studios in the Mission. Her work is included in numerous private collections in the Bay Area and NYC.
